I'm using acrobat 2019.008.20071

The zoom level in percentage (along with +/- buttons) has vanished from the main toolbar. Problem confirmed on Windows 7 & Windows 8.1.

Please bring it back, it is an essential item.

thanks

Hi Mike,

The zoom levels are still present in the main toolbar - they are now in center of the main toolbar, next to the hand icon, along with + and - buttons and one can specify percentages as well.

Please let us know if you can't locate them at this location.

Yes, but as tomihasa also notes - what was a simple single click, now requires at least 2 clicks. WHY make it more complex?

Please don't make using Acrobat anymore painful than it already is - company policy prevents me from using a more usable interface.

Their techs are bored, they need to mess around with something, why not us?

Preferences/General/Open documents as new tabs in the same window (requires relaunch), and

Voila, the zoom function came back.  Without even relaunching.  For now at least.

15-20 years ago adobe was good

I have the same problem with Adobe Reader DC 2019.008.20071 in OS X 10.11 El Capitan and macOS 10.12 Sierra. I use it all the time, so I need it back!

You can reset the toolbar to resolve the issue.Just right click on the toolbar and select reset toolbar option or you can press Alt+F8.

But it removes the customization of the tool bar.

Additionally, you can consider moving to tab mode. Here, are the steps to do so-

  1. Open Adobe Reader
  2. Click on the Edit menu, selects Preferences (Ctrl+K) > General,
  3. check Open documents as new tabs in the same window, scroll down and click ‘OK’
  4. Restart the Reader for the changes to take effect.

Reset toolbars (View, Show/Hide, Toolbar Items, Reset Toolbars or ⌥F8), as mentioned by ravig33979605, worked for me in Mac.

By the way, there is no "Click to zoom" (the magnifying glass with a plus icon) in the View menu, so that you could add that button from there. It's missing!

Also, the new "Click to zoom" button is worse regarding usability than the previous one: you need to click it twice to be able to zoom in: first you click the magnifying glass button, then you click the + button. Previously you could just quickly click the plus button. Adobe has made the use of this button twice as slow.

So I DON'T want to be in tab mode but I DO want the custom zoom % box. Is that possible? I've uninstalled, reinstalled and updated and I can't seem to figure out how to make that happen. Thanks in advance.

Ravi,

My Acrobat Reader updated to the new version and like the rest of the posters, I lost the + & - zoom tools which is a major pain and definitely a big step backward. My version at this point is Adobe Acrobat Reader DC 2019.008.20074 and still no zoom tools. This is a major impediment to my work flow. Do the software engineers that made this changer ever use this product?

Thanks for the response! It'd be nice if it functioned the same in tab and non-tab modes without having the extra click but that's just my opinion.

Ok! Figured out more of a happy medium if anyone's still playing the home game. If you're not in tab mode, you can select "Undock Page Controls" and it'll put the custom zoom box with the + and - and some other page tools on their own at the bottom of the window. Easier and more like the old version of Acrobat.

Cheers!

I've only just found the solution to showing the magnifying % through trial and error. Why is it only an option when the new tabs in same window is selected? This app continues to amaze me in terms of how badly designed it is. I hate using it.

Hi cyclopsdx,

Thank you for reaching out.

Could you please share more details about the issue you experienced with the magnifying % feature? It would be helpful if you could share the screenshot of the options and the window where it is unavailable.

Share the Acrobat and OS version numbers installed on the machine.

Thanks,

Meenakshi

I've now switched to 2023.008.20423 in the hope of a better user experience. Unfortunately, this software seems to get worse and worse. Who on earth designed the UI? Is this honestly the best experience you can come up with?

Hi cyclopsdx,

Sorry about the delay in response.

We acknowledge that the new Acrobat represents a notable change. However, we hope that as you get familiar with the new interface, you are able to be more productive & get more out of Acrobat. Please refer to the information about the new Acrobat o the following help document: https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/using/new-acrobat-experience.html

As we made these changes in the interface, we have tried to ensure all tools & features that are currently supported retain their familiar functionalities and workflows as they did in the previous version.

If any of your critical workflows are impacted, you can switch back to the old UI from the “Menu” on the top left corner of Windows and View Menu on MacOS.

You may share your suggestion or feedback with the team via the following page: https://acrobat.uservoice.com/forums/590923-acrobat-for-windows-and-mac

Thanks,

Meenakshi

After the recent UI upgrade question came back: how can I get the zoom % level always display? ...I found no option for this.

I need to see it always with possibility to manually set to particular % - as it's been possible in the previous UI on the Toolbar on top.

Actually, on my version anyway which is 2020.009.20063, you can go View - Show/Hide - Page Controls - Show Page Controls. Then the zoom bottoms and % box will appear down the bottom of the page when you move the mouse down there.  THEN  there is an icon on the right of the bar that moves the controls to the toolbar. And then they seem to stay there for other docs.
