How do I open a new document?

Explorer ,
Aug 12, 2022 Aug 12, 2022

Hi there.

When I open Adobe and then click on the PLUS down on the right, I'm only given the options to open a document that already exists, not to get a blank page where I can start writing a brand new document. I'm trying to attach the screenshots here but no matter how often I click on the pic to attach them, it doesn't open up. What am I doing wrong or missing, please? How does it work please? Thanks in advance. Oh, it looks like I managed to attach the screenshots!

there is no adobe premium subscription.

do you mean you have an adobe premiere pro subscription?

and again, what mobile app (exact name) are you trying to use?

p.s. here are the most commonly used plans, https://www.adobe.com/creativecloud/plans.html

@Tocino255984745b4g, adobe premium (mentioned in your message) is not the same as acrobat premium (shown in your screenshot).

and this isn't your fault but, in general, adobe's name useage leaves a lot to be desired going back to adobe's mess with acrobat and acrobat reader.

but that's all irrelevant now that we know with which program you're having a problem.

i see this (without the blackouts) after clicking that +sign in reader mobile:

did you restore your subscription?

NOTE: when you click "create pdf", you have to select something that already exists (just like acrobat pro).  you can then remove what's in the existing file and type/add what you want into your new file.  but i don't see a way to start with a blank page like @jane-e mentioned.

[Moderator moved from Using the Community forums to Acrobat for Mobile.]

Acrobat for mobile is a PDF viewer for your mobile device.

For best results use your favorite desktop publisher, MS Word, Google Docs or Adobe InDesign, to create documents and then export to PDF with Acrobat Pro.

Hi Nancy, thanks for worrying.

Unfortunately I have only a mobile phone so I'll try to follow your advice and find some editor for the mobile that allows me to do what you are explaining there.

Thanks!

By "Adobe", do you mean "Adobe Acrobat Reader for Mobile" where this is posted?

You cannot create a new file in Acrobat Reader for mobile or desktop. You need Acrobat DC Pro (desktop) to do that.

Hi Jane, thanks for worrying.

Yeah, by now I got it --I need either a desktop or can I perhaps edit on the phone with some app and then save it as a PDF with Adobe Premium, which is the subscription I have?

Acrobat for mobile allows you to view, comment, sign and send PDF files. Premium features give you access to other features described below.

Hope that helps.

But look, it does give you the option of "create". But when I click on it, nothing happens.

You're welcome, Torino,

Since you have Premium, you should be able to create a PDF from a file using your phone and then edit it. I know it's a work around, but Acrobat was never meant to be a word processor. Follow the links here to see how to create and edit using the Premium features of Acrobat Reader.

I don't understand why you are trying to create a PDF using the Acrobat Mobile application. It was never designed to be a document creation program and it will be difficult to do much with it. If you're stuck with working solely on your phone (ugh), maybe try to find a text editor that will run on it and use Adobe Premium to create a PDF from that?

it's not much harder to create a pdf using the mobile app than it is using acrobat pro on a desktop depending on your typing skills using a mobile versus your computer keyboard.

If you say so. I've never used Acrobat to create a PDF from scratch. It seems counter-intuitive to me as well as more difficult, but I guess there's more than one way to skin a cat. As a technical writer, I tend to be highly prejudiced towards using full-featured applications to generate content. 😄

oh, i definitely agree, a lot of things about acrobat are counter-intuitive and unnecessarily difficult.  even lotus notes from the 1980's was easier to use.

i was just pointing out that reader mobile isn't much more difficult to use than acrobat.  but, as you pointed out, that's not the same as saying reader mobile is easy to use.

When you went to the above link, did you also click the link for "Create PDF"? It's the first one in the list (see my earlier screenshot). Following the link for "Create PDF" will take you here with step-by-step instructions:

https://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobat/android/en/managingsubscriptions.html#create

(Alternatively, scrolling way down the page from the first link will also take you to the heading "Create PDF").

When I click the + in the blue circle on my iPad, a screen pops up asking me to select a location. Once I choose a location, I can see the files in that location.
