How to have entire file name show in device's portrait mode?

Hello All,

This is my inaugural post within this community forum.

To begin, while I've been using Acrobat infrequently for many years, my multiple lists of files have nevertheless grown to the point where I can't remember the file names of most. Assuming that everyone's devices show file names in a contracted view while in portrait orientation as mine does, then you know it can become rather tedious & irritating always having to either physically rotate your device's screen, or as I will often do, use the file's 'rename' option just to view the entire file name. Neither method is very efficient and with some of my research projects requiring that I lookup many files, it's finally time that I find out if there's a way to view each of my files full names without having to use the aforementioned methods?  I should note that I first used the app's search function and posed my query many ways without success before I decided the need to post a new thread.

So with that bit of background, "is there a way to have long file names show fully while my tablet is in portrait mode, or even in landscape mode for really long file names"?  If yes, what do I need to do"? Thank you!

Hi @Simon Ross,

Hope you are doing well. Sorry for your experience with Acrobat Reader Mobile.

Would you mind sharing the details of the device you use and a screenshot of the pattern in which the name is displayed on the device?

We tried reproducing the same at our end, but the devices showed two lines of names on the recent list when we tried to view the file name in Portrait mode.

Please share the above details so we can dive deep into the issue and assist you accordingly.

Look forward to hearing from you.

-Souvik.

@Simon Ross Is the application updated to the latest version as per the Play Store or Samsung Store?

Per the Google Play Store, then yes it is up-to-date!

It was updated to v. 22.11.0.24919 two days ago.

I have to run here shortly, but will check back either later tonight or tomorrow. Thanks again for your willingness to help!

@Simon Ross,

Since this is what you see with the latest version, I would like to suggest a workaround.

You can click the three dots on the right-hand side of the Recents tab and switch the view to Grid mode.

Doing this would get you the full file name up to 2 lines for your feasibility.

While you do so, I'll reach out to the product team to get further insights and reach out to you.

@Souvik

As you described, that suggestion is indeed helpful for seeing long files with names that can fit within 2 lines. Additionally, the thumbnail/grid view is a nice change from the same, old, boring list-view style.

I appreciate you forwarding my original post/question to the product team, who I trust will be able to work this out.

TBH, I'm a bit surprised that after all these years of only being able to view partial file names in a device's portrait view, that others hadn't already asked the developers why file names are so limited to just a few words, when there's plenty of real estate available!

Thank you again @Souvi
