I'm trying to create a form for use primarily on mobile (Android/iOS). It's a simple enough situation that I'd rather make a fancy PDF, instead of a basic app. Plus, I have a hard requirement that the final dataset be a 8.5x11 PDF. While the PDF must be 8.5x11 on PC and when printed, I'd like to smartly reflow the fields into a specific order on smaller screens. I expect that I may need to use Template Pages to make a "Mobile" version 😥
I've looked for the previous "JavaScript for Acrobat Reader Mobile API Reference", but every single link 404s now.
The biggest hurdle I am facing: Can PDFs be created with a defined reflow, depending on screen size/user agent?
Functions I need (on mobile):
- Text fields with formatting (date, time, number, phone)
- Check boxes
- Drop downs with settable lists
- Button to email the filled form (optional, tbh)
Tools I have:
- Adobe Acrobat Pro
- Adobe AEM Designer 6.5
- Stubbornness

> No. It's up to the viewer how to display the file. You can't force it one way or another.
You can add all the fields you mentioned, although the formatting of the text fields might not work on a mobile device. It also depends on the viewer used.
