Hii! I have been your free user for years now and I have always used the app to highlight and annotate pdfs while studying. Today, after a recently updating the app as well as the system, I am facing issues. The pdfs that I previously had annotated and added comments have lost all that and now whenever I try to , it says it's read only file. How could a file suddenly turn read only? Moreover isn't annotation supposed to be free?

Hope you are doing well. Sorry for your experience with Acrobat Reader Mobile.
Are you logged in using an account on Acrobat Reader Mobile or just using it in guest mode? If on guest mode, any changes to the account or a sudden shift can clear the account of its data.
Also, I tried reproducing the highlighting issue on my end, and it worked fine.
We will like to know more about the issue you are experiencing. Would you mind sharing a sample file with us to reproduce the issue?
Look forward to hearing from you.
-Souvik.

@Sobhana287198497brv The file you shared here is a password-protected file that cannot be edited or highlighted, even on the desktop version.
Would you mind sharing any other file on which you can perform annotations or highlights so we can investigate further?
