Unable to open PDFs in Acrobat Reader *from* Dropbox on iPad

Hi there,
I invested into an iPad pro (11" 2018) for this workflow and sad to see that it doesn't seem to work. Please take a look at the case below and point me to the right direction. I hope I just miss something in the setup.
Best,
Gabor
What I am trying to do:
- Search for a pdf in my Dropbox on iPad using the Dropbox app
- open it in the built-in Dropbox viewer
- open in the Acrobat Reader app using the Dropbox app's "Open with..." function
- read and annotate (highlight mostly) in Acrobat Reader
- save the annotations back to Dropbox from Acrobat Reader
Where it breaks:
- I get "Unable to open a document / please try again later" errors when I try to open PDFs in Acrobat Reader using the "Open with..." function of Dropbox
- After closing the error message with the OK button, a message saying "Opening..." appears underneath with a loading animation but it never loads and this actually blocks the ui so I have to close and reopen the Acrobat Reader app.
What I've tried so far:
- unlink Dropbox in Files/Locations and add Dropbox again there: this didn't fix it
- unlink Dropbox in Files/Locations and try to open the file from Dropbox: this works in the first case after Dropbox makes me give permission to Adobe (shows the Dropbox modal where I have to hit Allow...however, it seems as if the modal opened twice...maybe just a ui glitch but the permission popup consistently flashes up as a double). If I go back to Dropbox after the successful opening and try another file then the "Unable to open a document" error happens again.
- I also went to Dropbox and removed Adobe from the linked apps and added it back the same ways but the conditions didn't change.
- Removed and added Dropbox and Acrobat Reader apps on the iPad. Didn't change anything.
- Browsed my Dropbox in the Adobe Acrobat app and opened PDFs that way. This works as expected. The whole Dropbox is browsable, the documents open, and the added annotations appeared in Dropbox too after a quick refresh.
- Went through the same flow on my Samsung s20+ with the same dropbox and Adobe accounts. All works as expected there.
- Checked all the versions and they are as up to date as they can be today. iPad OS 15.5 (19F77), Dropbox 284.2.2, Adobe Acrobat Reader 22.05.01 (20220607.200953)
- The iPad had been factory reset and these were the first apps I tried to use so it's not some entangled messy old situation either.

Hello Endofu,
I hope you are doing well. I am sorry for your experience with Acrobat Reader Mobile.
This issue is highlighted to the engineering team, who are working on fixing it in the upcoming update.
In the meantime, we have a workaround so that you can work with dropbox. Please visit the below thread:
Acrobat cannot open the file from the Dropbox app (iOS)
Let me know if this helps.
Thanks,
Souvik.
