Zoom out pdf document on ipad to less then fit to width

When reading on ipad in horizontal mode, usually fit to width text on our dociuments are pretty big. How can we zoom out to <100% of the size in order to read smaller text and papers overall? when we pinch in with two fingers, we can see the zoom out option, however goes back to fit to width when fingers are released. This has been a struggle for years, requring us to use other apps rather than adobe.

I struggle with the exact same problem for years. It is relevant in many cases, e.g. when mathematical formulae are spread out over multiple pages. So far, I, too have to use other apps in order to achieve a fixed zoomed out view. However, app integration is tightest for Adobe, so it is always a compromise. Please let users zoom out <100%

How can this still be a problem. I think its easily solved within one update. I have the exact same issue with reading pdfs. Its kind of annoying that this issue still exists.

Best regards;

Hi @Jaaames,

Hope you are doing well. Sorry for the trouble with reading files on iPad.

Please help us with a few pieces of information to take this forward to the development team:

1. What is the view setting you are using when viewing the files;

2. Have you tried using Liquid Mode? Is it easier for navigation or hinders your workflow?

3. A screen recording of the entire issue for better understanding.

While you share the info, we request you to ensure that the application is updated to the latest version per the AppStore for the best experience.

Look forward to hearing from you.

Regards,
Souvik.

Hi Souvik, thank you for asking back, this means a lot. For me, being able to zoom out is important e.g. for getting an overview in longer documents. Not only when reading but also when presenting. Or judging the layout and structure of the piece, like where and how graphics, tables etc. are arranged. Also, for literally taking a step back like I would with a printed out version that I could spread out on the table. Liquid mode doesn't work for me, since it pins me even more closely to the page, without being able to zoom out at all. It kind of feels like being stuck to the page, being robbed of the liberty to view it at your own preferences.

Hi there

I hope you are doing well and, thank you for sharing your observation about the liquid mode. We are sorry to hear that the issue remains the same.

Would you mind sharing the view settings you are using when viewing the PDF files on the mobile device, along with the video recording of the entire issue as requested earlier, so our product development team can investigate this further?

Also, please check the self-help page https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/mobile-app-faq.html for future reference.
