Getting black screen when clicking to open pdf in Chrome on Windows 10

For the past couple of days, whenever I click on something that is a pdf, it opens, but it is a black screen.  This is only on my Chrome browser.  I am running Windows 10, have done nothing different from what I've done in the past when PDFs would open for me to view.  It will open on same laptop using Firefox, but I have so much trouble with Firefox I don't use it.

What could have happened and does anyone have a simple fix?  I am not a super savvy computer user.......  Thanks so much!
