PDF Embed API using Light Box embed on mobile, when screen is tapped, the pdf closes - any fixes?

I finally have my embedded pdf working using the light box embed on my wordpress website. I chose light box because when viewed on mobile, I needed the user to be able to pinch zoom in and out to see the small text, and this works well.  However, if the user should tap the side of the screen, it assumes the user is "exiting" the light box and the lightbox/pdf closes. When I refresh the screen, the pdf isn't reloading/reopening.

Is there any way to "ignore" accidental screen taps and always have the lightbox/pdf open?

The webpage this pdf is viewed on isn't linked to on my website, so they won't necessarily be able "go back" to previous page.
