Question

How to make pop-ups for use on iPad?

Hi all, i wonder if you can help:

I’m just in the middle of finishing off a pdf presentation (created in inDesign) which uses ‘mouse over’ pop-ups as part of the display, this works fine on laptops/computers, but we need it to work for iPads, too. Obviously this is a different kettle of fish as there is no mouse. And an Apple Pencil doesn’t seem to do the job either. I’ve been through quite a lot of sites now for info and i’m getting the impression that it’s not actually possible! Which seems crazy these days. Does anybody have any ideas?

For your info i am using the latest version of inDesign and Acrobat Pro DC on a MacBook Pro.

Thanks very much, Richard

Hi Richard,

Sorry for the delay in response.

As you need the pop-ups to appear on the PDF presentation on the iPad, it is not possible. The pop-ups do not work on the PDf on the mobile application.

The Adobe Acrobat Reader for mobile has some limitation over the desktop application. It does not work in a similar way as the desktop application do.

Hope that answers your query.

Let us know if you have any questions.

Meenakshi

Thanks very much for getting back to me Meenakshi.

Yes, I had a feelling this was the case judging by the lack of info i turned up. It sort of makes sense i suppose. Interestingly though, i wonder if i used the 'click' features in Acrobat pdfs i might have more luck. I say this simply because to 'click' would be more akin to the 'touch' features that we use on an iPad? Just a thought.

Anyhow, thanks again,

Best wishes,

Richard
