I am getting an "out of memory" error when redacting a pdf.  PLEASE HELP!!!!

I have Adobe Acrobat Pro XI on 10 of my users desktops and as soon as they go to verify redactions the memory on the machine goes off the charts and then I get a "out of memory" error.

Anyone have a fix for this?

Hi Steveisp,

As per the description above, you are getting Out of Memory when trying to apply redaction to a PDF, Is that correct?

Please try emptying the TEMP folder and see if that helps.

This error usually occurs, if you run too many memory-extensive applications simultaneously. So try performing those redaction tasks after closing some of the background processes/applications.

You may also check for any pending updates from Help >Check for updates.

Let us know how it goes.

Regards,

Anand Sri.

Anand Sri,

Thank you for your suggestions however none of them have worked.  I upgraded my 10 users to Acrobat Pro DC and tried to "apply the redaction" changes.  It starts the changes and the bar goes across the bottom.  It then gets to about 75% done and then gives me the error, "out of memory".  Also I watch the task manager and see the memory going up to around 2.80 gig's on Adobe Acrobat process!!

I backed off the last update from Microsoft, downgraded them to Adobe Acrobat Pro X and still no luck.  I have deleted all temp files and made sure the pagefile is not set.  I also added 4 gig's of RAM to bring the machine to a total of 8 gigs......

There has to be a memory leak in our version of Acrobat????

Any further help would be much appreciated.

This is an urgent issue.

Thanks,

      Steve

Could you please assist, got the same issue with my Acrobat Pro XI (ver.11.0.23), tried to combine two files (total: 2097kb), even viewing 1 pdf file, it takes time to load then will give an 'out of memory' error. tried emptying the Temp folder, restart the machine and error still the same. Hello Mariop,

Sorry for the delayed response and inconvenience caused. Please install any pending updates of Acrobat 11 from help>check for updates, reboot the machine after installing the updates and see if this brings any difference.

If the issue persists, please use Acrobat cleaner tool to remove Acrobat  Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs

Reboot the machine and install Acrobat 11 from Download Acrobat XI, Acrobat X

Also, try if disabling Protected Mode in Adobe Reader helps [Edit | Preferences | Security (Enhanced)].

Note: Disabling the Protected mode is only for testing purpose, please enable it back.

Is it specific to one PDF file or with all the PDF files? Try combining other PDF files and see if this issue is reproducible?

Let us know how it goes and share your findings.

Regards,

Anand Sri.
