"Failed to Connect to the Device" error

Adobe DC keeps giving me "Failed to connect to the device" error anytime I try to scan a document. Here are some facts:

  • I am using Windows 10
  • Scanner is a Brother printer and a scanner all in one. It works fine. I can actually print to it from Adobe DC. I can also scan from it using other programs like "Windows Fax and Scan"
  • Same Adobe DC program and same scanner worked fine on this computer prior to installing a new router.
  • I even connected the printer/scanner directly to the computer via USB cable, but problem persists.

I am guessing that Adobe DC scanning utility is still pointing to the scanner link prior to changing the router, but can't figure out how to change that. Using the printing utility one can change which printer to use, but that option is not available when scanning a document. It seems to use whatever was there previously.

There could be multiple root cause for this issue like drivers problem, connectivity problem, compatibility issue, hardware issue or installation problem. Correction:

I was able to select the USB connected option and scan; i.e. the direct connection works.

However, the wireless connection still does not. Although it worked fine prior to changing the router.
