Reducing the Sizes of All Images in a PDF file

I have a big file with a lot of images which were pasted into it with Ctrl + V command. They seem to retain their original sizes. (I am referring to kilobytes and megabytes rather than height and width of the images.) As a result, the PDF file is many megabytes in size. How can I reduce the sizes of all the images in the file but preserve their height and width, so that the PDF file may occupy much smaller space on the disk? The size of the background pages and text is not to be affected.

Thank you for the information. Yes, I need to reduce the sizes of images while preserving their height and width. It seems that going to Tools>Optimize PDF>Preflight>Acrobat Pro DC 2015 Profiles>PDF fixups>”Downsample image resolution to specified value” reduces file size more than the “Save as Optimized PDF” command discussed in the links.
