Save as a PDF license error in Excel

I have several users who use the Excel function "Save as an Adobe PDF" and it brings up a licensing error "Your request could not be completed. Adobe Acrobat license has either expired or not been activated". Ending the "AcroTray" proccess in Task Manager fixes the issue. The license is fine and Adobe Acrobat Standard DC works with no issues, just not in this function. Anyone else have this error?

Thank you for sharing the detailed description and troubleshooting steps performed so far.

I guess this pop up "your request could not be completed......" returns everytime you use Save as feature and close AcroTray from Task manager?

We'll try a few more steps to see if this error disappears-

1- Close Excel, Open Acrobat Std DC click on profile icon and Sign Out of the app. Once done, then Sign In back.

2- If that doesn't help, then you probably need to do a clean uninstall of the application using cleaner tool  http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html   and reinstall it. 

Let us know if that fixes the issue.

What do you mean by melt down? The computer is not turning on? MS Windows is not booting at all?

What happened?  

You can always recover your data using bootable live ISO image in a USB stick. There are plenty of free Linux distributions out there in the web that allows you to create a bootable USB  stick just for this purpose.

Once you have this bootbale USB stick , plug it in the deffective computer and enable your BIOS to boot from USB devices (if it is not already set like that). In some computers, and depending on the brand and BIOS manufacturer, as soon as you turn them on you can tap or press the F10, F11, or F12 keys during the bootstrap sequence; it will enable a prompt  with options to boot from other than the hard drive (CD-ROM, USB, for example).

Once the Linux image decompresses you 'll be able to use a full operating system running straight out of that USB stick. Then you can copy or backup your files and move them to another external storage device.
