Text being copied to different boxes on different pages

I have a 27 page PDF with fillable fields on each sheet. I am running into the problem where something being typed in a text box on page 1 is being added to a text box on page 5. I know that this is from copying and pasting the text box. I have multiple text boxes and pages that this is happening to. I want to know if there is a shortcut way to highlight a box and see if the information is being translated to any other boxes in the PDF? It will be tedious and time consuming for me to go box by box.

It's time-consuming to remedy this situation, but you can avoid it.

Create a blank PDF page and create a text field, set it as you wish, right-click and use "Create multiple copies".

They will renamed as name.0, name.1, name.2, and so on.

Then copy-paste each of these fields on a different page in your form.

Use Tools > Prepare Form

On the right side look for fields with same names.

Ok... once identified, how do you fix the issue?

Hi there

 

Hope you are doing well and thanks for reaching out.

 

This issue happens when form fields are copied and pasted without renaming them. Since they share the same name, they automatically mirror each other's input.

 

Please try the steps below to identify and rename them:

 

1. Use the Prepare Form Tool in Adobe Acrobat

  • Open your PDF in Adobe Acrobat Pro.
  • Go to Tools > Prepare Form to enter form editing mode.
  • In the right-hand panel, you'll see a list of all form fields. Fields with the same name will be grouped together.
  • Click on a field, and all linked instances will be highlighted, making it easy to spot duplicates.

2. Rename Fields Manually

  • If fields are unintentionally linked, rename them so they work independently.
  • Double-click a field in Prepare Form mode and change its name in the Field Properties panel.



This should help you fix the issue and ensure each field works separately.
