Unable to open online forms using Safari or Chrome

Every time I attempt to open any website with a form, I receive the following error:

The document you are trying to load requires Adobe Reader 8 or higher. You may not have the Adobe Reader installed or your viewing environment may not be properly configured to use Adobe Reader.

For information on how to install Adobe Reader and configure your viewing environment please see http://www.adobe.com/go/pdf_forms_configure.

I have attempted to download the latest Adober Acrobat Reader DC on my computer (Macbook) but continue to get the same error message.

You need to save the file to your local computer and then open it directly from Reader.

I can't save the file if it won't even open in Safari or Chrome. As soon as I click on the link, the same error message comes up

Right-click it and select "Save Target As", or something similar. At any rate, this issue has nothing to do with Adobe, only with the browsers you're using, which actively block the Adobe plugin.
