A number is out of range error message

I have been trying to edit a document in Adobe Acrobat X Pro and always get the same message:

when I hit "save" it says "unable to save, a number is out of range".

I am not the creator of the document and don't know the person who is, so I can't ask her to send me a new document.

Is there any way that I can get around this error message to be able to make some minor changes to the document?
