I have no problem login in with my password at Acrobat.com. However, when I want to install (actually: update) Adobe reader, no password is accepted and there is no way to ask for a new or other one. What now ..?

It sounds to me as though this is your computer asking for user account name and password to allow a program, in this case, Adobe Reader, to be installed on it. This is NOT an Adobe password; it's your computer's password.  You would get the same prompt if you attempted to install any new software on your computer.

    Hi petern45398460,

How are you updating Adobe Reader? Are choosing Help > Check for Updates from within Reader? At what point are you prompted for a password?

    Best,

Thank you for replying. I have tried to answer several signals that a new version of Adobe reader needs to be installed. The moment I do so (now 9th time) I get a single box asking for my name and password. My name is filled in, not my password. Any password I try, most of all the password with which i login on Adobe is refused. My mac does not provide the password, there is no facility in or near the box to ask for a (new) password.
