What is the difference between a brand and a library now that both can have colors, fonts, and templates? Which should I use if I want to let people use our fonts, colors, etc in their designs?
Hi @blinkertoon
My unofficial response would be
- If you are going to use the content regularly in other Adobe apps other than Express then just a library might make more sense
- If you're working primarily in Express then use brand
Libraries have additional features and support other content types beyond what is available in Express, and you could run into compatibility issues if you use them in other Adobe desktop products regularly.
Hope that helps,
Dave

Hi @Megan33970757zq9d, I think using brands to share with others is the way to go. It's explained here: https://helpx.adobe.com/express/using/shared-brands.html

For some reason my brand did not show up. When I searched the name it did. Then I clicked on "Use as library" which resulted in my brand being lost. How to undo this? And I'm still not understanding the difference between a library and a brand. The article below only says: just use brand as it's easier to share with others. @Adobe, is brand replacing Libraries? Or is Brand for Express whereas Libraries are for Illustrator etc? Please clarify.

Can you share a screenshot of your stuff so we can understand the situation? The brands are in a folder different from the library, as seen in the attached screenshot. The libraries are in Your stuff folder. You can access your brand on the main left-side panel at any time.
A brand in Adobe Express is a mark you create that includes fonts, colors, and logos. Find out more about it here. You can use it directly in a project. A library comprises design assets; you can also add colors, fonts and graphics.
We're here to help
Thanks,

I'm seeing the same problem with Brand not showing up when I'm editing a file. But it's there when I go to https://new.express.adobe.com/brands

Hi
@Rutger H,
Thanks for your patience. There was an issue going on with brands not showing up, which has been fixed. Please let us know if you're still experiencing this issue.

Our team is also having the same issue.
Originally had Libraries set up with our branding items. When this update came out I moved our brand over to this new feature but it stopped showing up in our Libraries when we used Adobe apps but eventually the Brand showed up on our Adobe Apps too.
Now our issue is that sometimes the Brand feature in Adobe Express doesn't recognize that some are logos, fonts, colors and ect. (included screenshots).

Thanks for sharing the screenshots @Imelda31436451gmuz
Just to ensure I understand, are the logos appearing somewhere else in the brand other than the logos section? What changed between when the logo did and didn't appear?
Thanks,
Dave

It looks like it's showing up as assets under the Brand. That's probably why it shows on the overview.

Thanks for the additional details. Did this happen when changing it back and forth between a brand and a library?
Thanks,
Dave

I also want to note that I share this with my other team members who use Adoobe apps but we want to share it with the rest of our company to use Adobe Express only.

Thanks for the clarification and for confirming the transition between the Brand and Library setup.
It sounds like the Brand assets are appearing correctly in overview but aren’t always categorized (e.g., logos not showing in the logo section). This might be due to how assets were originally added or converted during the switch.
To help resolve:
Try removing and re-adding the affected assets directly into the correct Brand category (logo, font, etc.).
Confirm all team members are using the same Adobe Express version.
We appreciate you encouraging company-wide use — feel free to let us know if you'd like help streamlining setup for broader team access!

Hi. I've asked this question as part of a separate post (sorry) but just found this thread and the original message from @Rutger H is my question exactly, i.e. pro/con or intended purpose / relationship of using brand kits vs. libraries (esp. when you have the option in the brand right-click to "Use as library").
Any final thoughts before we just dive in and assume brand is the way to go, please share 😉
Thx
