Issue with Background Eraser

Trying to erase just the light gray background of my photo of a bird on a branch. The app erases the background AND the branch, which is a medium brown and fairly prominent. Would really appreciate a solution to this issue. Probably something simple that I just don't see.

Having this issue too. And when I go to use the tools nothing happens but if I click done it shows.
