QR Code pointing to "go.adobe.io" short address instead of real address

Hi,

Yesterday I tried to create a new QR-Code and was devastated realizing that the code is now pointing towards a "go.adobe.io" shortlink instead of the actual address... WHICH SHOWS ON YOUR PHONE SCREEN !

From a strict marketing point of view, this is a disaster for me: my clients are asking my to provide RELIABLE and PERMANENT QR Codes so that THEIR clients can easily connect to pages that are on THEIR web domain, with THEIR name in it.
Now, when scanning a code, the only thing a user sees is that it points towards "go.adobe.io", without even knowing if this QR code is actually a genuine one or a fake one that has been placed there by someone trying to intercept the traffic/lure users into some "trap"...

Please, make it possible again to create simple direct codes, pointing directly to the address it was created for and shoing the name of the domain it is pointing to.

PLEASE.

Otherwise this module is simply USELESS for business.

Having the user's phone showing "go.adobe.io" as a link is totally counterproductive.

Did you create the QR code in the way I did above? Did you enter a link of your own?

I have just used the Create QR code quick action from the Adobe Express home page. You can see I have pasted the URL to my website there.

I then clicked download and this is the QR code, which when I scan this with my phone shows exactly what I pasted as the link.

Creating a QR code like this does not make the link go to any address other than the one you paste into the link box.

@thejanebradbury  it's pretty straightforward and I don't see how you do it any other way... So... I don't think this is a PEBKAC situation 😉
But the result on my end is... quite different from yours, to say the least.
Any difference that could be explained by the location? (I'm in Belgium)

I can't see why location should make a difference. I have used the same procedure I've explained above, using your custom link which I typed in, and downloaded the subsequent QR code. When scanned with my phone camera, it's comes up with exactly the link pasted in, not that Adobe link you found it redirecting to.

I decided to try it with the screenshot you have posted here and that's where the go.adobe.io link appears. Most curious! So then I did these steps:

  • I tried repeating my QR code generation by typing in my own website again and scanning the code before downloading it. I get my website link as expected.
  • Without saving or downloading that QR code I edited the link by typing in your link and scanning the code again. I get your expected link not the Adobe one.

The only thing that makes sense is that if you are copying and pasting that link from somewhere else and not typing it in fresh is that somehow it is corrupt and linking to the wrong thing.

My next steps would be to clean out my cache and cookies, close down and restart my computer and sign in fresh to Adobe Express. I'd then try to generate the QR code again by typing it in manually rather than pasting it and see what happens.

I know all this is a pain to do, but it's the only way to find out exactly where this is going wrong for you. I can't seem to replicate the issue  so have no idea what's causing it but my guess is a corrupted link because I've had that happen to me with copied and pasted links.
