Setting an image as background to a custom shape in Adobe Express

New Here ,
May 15, 2025 May 15, 2025

I came across this template searching for “grunge” and saw this flamingo with a clipping mask of starry sky. There are two layers.

I cannot for the life of me figure how it’s done. I’ve inspected both images to see what effects/opacity etc are applied but nothing.

If anyone wants to play search for “grunge flamingo”🦩 it comes up pretty early. If you figure out, post here!

Hey @kikalee, Welcome to our Adobe Express Community!

To achieve this, you'd need to use the blend tools with the shape and the icons.

First, select the background you want and set it to Screen blend . Then, place the shapes or icons below the background layer. This will get you the desired results. Attached are some screenshots for reference.

Hope this helps!
