Text locked - let me unlock it!

Really struggling here. Have tried all the suggestions on other posts for this issue but no good. There is no 'lock/unlock' icon for the text box on my pages, and I am accessing my document by selecting edit. All I want to do is edit my text - without this it's truly useless.

On desktop MAC, using Firefox (up to date) and also tried Safari - no use.

Typically, locked text layers will have a small padlock icon in the top left. Clicking on that icon unlocks the text layer to where you can edit it.
