Extremely difficult to generate images of clean shaven men

You should work on the beards, you only offer pictures of men with a beard, even when I exclude beard, moustche from the prompt, you show only men with a beard. Or has anybody a solution how to get portraits and pictures of men without a beard?

I refer you to my earlier post in this thread. Beards appear to be a special case and are hard to get rid of. Note also that negative prompting does not work with these models.

Firefly does not seem to be able to generate an image of a clean-shaven man—even when "clean-shaven" or "without a beard" is explicitly in the prompt. Am I missing a setting somewhere? This has been true so far in both still image and video generation.

It is a struggle to exclude specific things.

Having an additional prompt field for exclusions would be helpful.

For instance, beards.

I've tried variations of the following and continue getting beards. So many beards.

- adding "no"

- using alternate copy such as clean-shaven, full-shave, no hair on face, beardless, etc.

Negative prompting is a problem. The model does not understand the concept of a word being negated by the word in front of it. So using "not [X]", "no [X]", "exclude [X]", "with no [X]", and "without [X]" does not work. As you observed, it ignores the negation word and adds to the image the thing you are trying to avoid. You basically need to find "positive" words and phrases telling the model what you want to see rather than telling it what you do not want to see. Such as "flat land" rather than "no mountains" or "desolate" rather than "no people". If I am not sure how to describe something I want to exclude in a positive way, I will ask Google Gemini or ChatGPT for ideas. Just be aware that when they give prompts, they are usually too wordy and conversational, so you have to edit them, but they are good for ideas.

I will add that beards appear to be a special case. They are very hard to get rid of. You can see here that even with this long prompt, not all the images are without beards:

Unfortunately, the beard problem remains. Adobe is aware of the problem and has indicated they are working on it.

I have tried all your suggestions, but it does not work for me. All the men have a beard, moustache. Honestly, I am disappointed, I have been using Firefly for a year now, but will have to explore other apps as the beard problem is remaining too long.

As noted above "No", "Without" or any negative prompting will not work currently so it actually includes what you are trying to remove.

I've found "unblemished" works fairly well. You still get some 5 o'clock shadows sometimes, but the majority turn out ok.
