Media Encoder doesn't retain the name of the sequence from Premiere

Hello,

Do you mean if it makes a difference in workflow or a technical difference?

If you meant technically, yes, as i've written above it works as expected.

If you meant workflow wise yes, it makes a difference if you have 3+ files to export as it saves you time. Pressing a single shortcut vs waiting for a window to open and pressing Send to encoder button.

Complicated workaround 🙂

Thanks for helping with this

Here's a link to the original post in the AME forum: https://community.adobe.com/t5/adobe-media-encoder-bugs/media-encoder-doesn-t-retain-the-name-of-the-sequence-from-premiere/idi-p/14173476

I can reproduce this behavior as well.  If you duplicate a sequence that's been opened in Export mode previously, the duped sequence will inherit the custom output name of the original sequence when sent direct to AME.  Workaround is to open the duplicate sequence in Export mode & switch back to Edit mode without making any changes.  That will "reset" the output name to match the sequence's name when sending it directly to AME.

I'll log a bug on this, thanks for letting us know!

OK. Got it. This looks like a Premiere Pro bug then. I'll move your post to Premiere Pro and let them know.

Hello,

This problem has plagued media encoder for the past couple of versions.

Still exists in the latest version 24.

When I export my sequence directly to media encoder without passing through the premire export dialog and pressing "send to media encoder" button , media encoder doesn't keep the name of the Sequence as the name of the exported file.

Instead it puts an older sequence name. Maybe this has something to do with the fact that I'm making duplicates of my sequences for multiple versions instead of creating a new sequence everytime, which would be time consuming.

If I press the "send to media encoder" button all goes as expected.

It isn't a major bug but it gets annoying when having more videos to export at the same time and I have to pass through the export panel everytime instead of just sending it directly to media encoder.

Thanks.

Does ist make a difference using the Export panel vs. the menu command when exporting to AME?
