Adobe XD Plugin for Visual Studio Code is not authenticating

I am a designer working with a developer, trying to encourage him to use this plugin to save lots of effort. He tells me that he is unable to authenticate or get a token to authenticate.

• I sent him my shared libary file link
• He has installed the Adobe XD plugin
• He has an Adobe ID

When he tries to authenticate, it fails, he gets the progress indicator and then eventually ends up on the screen he started on. Neither Authenticate or Skip result in anything. Screens appear below.

Hi @mattcaspertfg,

Sorry for the frustration. Our engineering team has tried investigating the issue previously, and they found that this issue is with the VS code Plugin itself and not XD. The plugin is actually hosted in the Visual studio marketplace, so nothing can be done from our XD side.

However, the team is trying to look for the owner of the plugin so that he (the owner) can fix the issue.

Hey @HARSHIKA_VERMA 

According to the plugin page, the authors seems to be from Adobe as they have a "Feature Request" section that includes a link to  Adobe XD on UserVoice ... 🤔

This plugin not working is blocking our entire organisation to be able to share our designs with the dev team and is most critical. I am guessing that it is not only for our company.

@Patrick Charriere Is correct. According to the plugin marketing page, the publisher of the plugin is Adobe. This would indicate Adobe as the authors also. I don't think your answer to this problem is correct as it is still ongoing.

Yes. I agree with you that the publisher is Adobe, but our team is looking for the owner of the plugin. However, I am still checking with the engineering team to investigate it further.

I will share the updates with you as soon as I hear back from the team.

@HARSHIKA_VERMA do you have a time frame of when the team is going to be identified because this issue is a big blocker since this issue has been raised in september 2021 and we are now in 2023?

If you can't solve it we have to implement a workaround and we would be losing a big potential has this tool is the masterpiece key to collaborate between Product and Dev.

I'm so disappointed in the experience of trying to integrate design tokens with XD. The tutorials link to an expired URL "letsxd.com", I can't authenticate in VS Code, and the documentation is vague which requires me to do detective work to piece together a complete picture of how this workflow is supposed to be set up. How am I supposed to sell this to my dev team?? I'm inches away from abandoning XD and moving back to Sketch or Figma. I inherited this project which had already been created in XD, and I thought it would be a great opportunity to learn the app but I've been continually suprised at how clunky it is, especially for an Adobe product. Help me Adobe-wan! You're my only hope!

IMHO, I would make the switch to Figma. XD appears to on maintainace mode by Adobe.

Yeah, that's what I'm beginning to believe. There was so much buzz around this in 2020 and 2021, and then it's like the whole promise of the workflow just vanished. Demian Borba left Adobe, and I think that and the purchase of Figma has pushed this whole workflow into the twilight zone. I can't find ANYTHING. There are no sunset notices or anything. I spent an entire day going through docs and tutorial videos trying to get it to work. I've been researching design token workflow to try to find an end-to-end solution and I was so happy to find the XD to VSCode model because that's what we have here and it would have been an easy win. Adobe is usually so good with this stuff. They could have at least kept the letsxd.com domain and put some kind of update there. They have totally dropped the ball on me.

Part of the problem is the bid to buy Figma. Legally, Adobe and Figma have to remain quiet, hence part of the radio silence. But I agree, they dropped a lot of balls on this.
