What is future of XD? We have people with new Creative Cloud licenses, XD isn't included anymore. Only older uses can access XD (at lest those in our company). We just bought a few new CC license and XD is no where to be found. We need a prototyping tool and need to know sooner than later if XD is not availble to any new users.

@joren brosens nobody knows that final answer...at the moment, as long as you subscribe to the whole package of CC, you will have access to install XD within 24 hours of logging into Adobe.com. There is usually a 24 hour delay...and worse case scenario 48 hour delay.
i know in the past it used to be 24 hours... and for my students who installed it the past week, it usually the day after it shows up. I really don't know the reason or rationale for the waiting period, it is what it is I guess. But, to answer the question, Adobe Xd has been in 'Maintenance Mode' since May 2023. On the other hand, you may want to learn other applications as well such as Figma

What a shame. Our agency integrated XD deeeeeply. Not only UI but asset creation, together with clients and stuff.
XD is perfect by any means for this. We hate to see it go and to be honest are quite furious about it.
Migrating to Figma is a joke, you loose way to much and Figma itself has quite a learning curve if you quickly want to get on your XD level and speed.
What a shame. We used to love Adobe so much, but times are changing aren't they?

I feel your pain. It takes some investment but I starting to feel more comfortable in Figma. I had seriously hoped for an official file converter from either Adobe or Figma to help out this mess that many of us are now in.

I agree with you. Migrating to Figma is a joke, considering that Adobe is essentially a standard in the creative industry.

Adobe left us high & dry.
After (in my case) 30 years of paying for their software.

But honestly, I don’t see any reasons to switch because XD has everything. The only upgrade would be if there were better tools for development

That is until we are notified (which we have not been), that Adobe is turning off support completely. Then you lose the ability to even run XD, regardless if your files are all local. The other risk is an OS update breaks something, then what is the reponse to that? Something to think about.

yes, this is my concern.

You think that's bad? I'm a a large university, we have UI/UX design classes. Just started new semester and BOINK! Faculty can't start classes, because new students don't have access do XD even though the admins do and no-honking-one warned anybody about the situation. Oh, yes, sure we can send all potential 120 accounts so it will be added _somehow_ to the (we opted for have shared devices licenses, so... good luck with that)

I just lost my job and need to make product mocks from XD files I worked on 3 years ago and I can't even open my work. It's atrocious that I'm getting charged up the ass for Adobe software I only have to do mocks while I'm unemployed, and I don't even have access to XD to open my files.

You can still download it if you have the All Apps plan, but that is basically the only way to get it. If you have that plan, kindly inform support to flip the switch to get it. Adobe is basically hidding it from new users, even if it available to them. Good luck on the job hunt. With that said, you might be better served learning Figma for future employment.

The argument for Figma is getting trickier since they started charging for "Developer" mode, and after spending a year with Figma, I think its a ineffective tool for sharing prototypes with developers and especially clients. Not to mention how easy it is for users to mistakenly add extra editers increasing subscribtion costs.

I prefer XD over Figma. Sure, it is not perfect, but most software isn't but gets regular updates (not XD anymore).
I still use XD, but I would use PenPot over Figma. It's open source and with Figma maybe being bought out to any buyer, I don't trust it to stick around. The free tier of PenPot will probably cover any freelancers' needs.

I do agree with you @ellices63621269 , I prefer Xd over Figma, and likely because I am used to using Adobe products and biased over their products over other applications. But, if I had to use a different application, than Xd, then it would likely be Figma over PenPot just because if it's superiority. PenPot is likely from many former engineers of Figma?!

It's very frustrating that Adobe is abandoning XD (and not providing an alternative). I don't like Figma, and I don't want another monthly expense when I'm already paying for Creative Cloud. I still use XD, even though it is missing some basic functionality. (It's still better than Figma.) And NOW ADOBE IS HIDING XD?! It's pretty lame, Adobe. It's sad that Adobe was trying to buy Figma for 20 billion and then had to pay a 1 billion dollar penalty to end the deal. 1 BILLION dollars could have made XD a class-leading application.

All the supplied links to download it are not working anymore.
This only happens when a product is nearing its end-product lifecycle.
For XD users, you can still grab SVG copies out of Figma to important into XD, but anyone still using it and not jumping to Figma is going to be in a bad shape. I have CC full-license and they have hidden XD and actually prevent me from downloading it. I have to downgrade my subscription to get it, but risk not using my other apps. That spells disaster for pure XD only teams.

You gave me a pretty good scare! This link still works:
https://www.adobe.com/apps/all/desktop/pdp/xd
I just tested it. I had to log out and log back into my paid Adobe account, but it worked.
If it can hang on until the end of 2024, that would be awesome.

@dazhong_8799 Figma has always had a payment plan in place a long time ago. There is a free plan for starters and for studemts/educators (I believe you need to have an educational email address).

@passiononplastic once you are a full-fledged Adobe CC Subscriber, you will have access to Xd. The freebie of XD is a thing of the past. Granted, you should also learn how to use Figma, as any day, Adobe could pull Xd from his apps roster!
