AE belegt in ca. 10 min. allen RAM (max.
Mein Setup:
Mac Studio M1 Max 2022, 64 GB RAM, Ventura 13.4.1 bzw. 13.5
Premiere 23.5
After Effects 23.5. bzw. 23.6
I think I figured out the issue, I forgot that I had the Aftercodecs plugin installed on my laptop, After effects 23.6 seems working correctly after deleting Aftercodecs, hope it can help someone who's facing the same problem.
Final comment on this thread for everyone who experiences similar issues: i seems like some piece of corrupted footage causes the memory leak. This was the final insight of the Adobe engineer. I couldn't track it down in my project unfortunately.

Hi @hurti,
Thank you for reporting this issue. Would you be able to send us a log file from After Effects so we can see more details about the app's activity as it consumes memory?
When does the increased RAM usage occur? I.e. does it happen only after a project has been opened, when a project is rendering, or without any project open?
Thanks for reporting this issue and for any further information you can provide,
- John, After Effects Engineering Team

I have massive trouble with the memory leak even in the latest versions of After Effects and Premiere Pro and Ventura, as described in previous posts. Please help, can't work like this!
My setup:
Mac Studio M1 Max 2022, 64 GB RAM, Ventura 13.4.1 and 13.5
Premiere 23.5
After Effects 23.5. and 23.6
Media and disk caches are on an external SSD.
AE eats all RAM in about 10 min. After this Preview is limited to 5 frames and the memory warning banner shows. Disabled all thirdparty plugins, cleared all caches, no change. I limited Media Cache to 50GB, RAM for other apps to 8GB, CPU for other apps 5%.
Premiere eats all of the RAM in about 15 min. plus a lot of virtual RAM (320+ GB) and then crashes. Disabled all thirdparty plugins, no change. Created project, imported old one, no change.
This all is happening with Ventura 13.4.1 and also 13.5 und with the two latest AE versions 23.5 and 23.6.

Hi John,
thanks for your reply. I created the log file. How can I send it to you? When I drag/drop it to the dm it says "file type not supported". Copy/paste the log file contents also gives back an error.

Increased RAM usage occurs not when only opening Ae. It slowly starts when opening a project, and increases fast when preview rendering until it reaches the limit of 56GB which is assigned in the Ae preferences. Manually clearing memory/caches in Ae won't help.

@hurti Please upload the logs to online storage (Dropbox, Google Drive, WeTransfer, etc) and send me a link in a direct message here on the forums.
Do you have Cache Frames When Idle enabled in the Composition > Preview menu? That is a possible cause of your RAM quickly filling up, though it should not exceed the amount allowed for After Effects in Preferences > Memory & Performance.

I did send you the log. Yes, "Cache frames when idle" is enabled. Shouldn't it free RAM / overwrite it when a new preview is rendered? I seams like this is not happening.

I disabled "Cache frames when idle", no difference.

Hi @hurti,
Are you using multiple monitors? Can you try the suggestion in the following post: https://community.adobe.com/t5/premiere-pro-bugs/issues-with-premiere-23-5-on-m2-ultra-studio/idc-p/...
Let us know if it brings any changes.
Thanks,
Nishu

Thanks for the hint, @nishu_kush! I'm using two Dell monitors: 2160p via Thunderbolt and 1440p via HDMI. "Displays have seperate Spaces" is enabled. Disabled or enabled, no difference or improvement.

@JohnColomboany insight from my log file, yes? This software is a real desaster! Rendering is also only using 2-4 core of 10 and never more than 30-50% GPU. I've been working with Ae and Pr now since 10 years. Never had such problems on my Intel Mac. Guys, I have to finish a project here!

Hi @hurti,
Thanks for your patience in our response. I showed the log to our engineers and they said it does appear there may be a leak somewhere. They also had the following questions/suggestions:
Would it be alright if one of our engineers reached out to you directly? There are some additional debugging options that they can go over with you to try to track down the potential leak.
Cheers,

Thanks for you efforts, @JohnColombo. Purging memory manually doesn't solve it. Changing rendering to "Software only" in AE seems to solve it. I'll keep on testing this. Sure, engineers can reach out to me directly.
Also funny, AME also fills up RAM over the limit (300+ GB says Acitivity Monitor), then slows down dramatically. This happens when sending a comp from AE render queue to AME and also when directly importing a AE project file into AME without having AE open. The only way rendering works now is directly from the AE render queue. GPU enabled or disabled doesn't make a difference here.

Update: Changing render settings to "Software only" doesn't solve it. I also have the same memory leak problem on my Intel MacBook Pro after having updated AE from 22.x to 23.6!

This same issue is killing me. I am M1 imac. It started in beta version weeks ago, Because we could not find a solve, we switched to an non-beta 23.6.0
Part of me thought it was digital anarchy flicker free filter conflicting but I don't think so. The leaks have occurred with and without it seems, depending on project. It now is doing it in the non-beta version and I am desperate. I can't work this way and we're in deadline mode. Please, help. It seems like ever since adobe removed our gpu memory options, memory leaks have occurred. But here's my logs if this helps. Thank you so much for reading. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1exzj-dkMjVPxXozgJccCZ-WJXhmrrV4q?usp=sharing
THis problem started when I was using premiere beta, which had worked fine for 3 years on my m1 imac
then one day, major memory leak. Adobes solution, use the non-beta
So, in order to switch to non-nbeta I had to actually go into the project file, turn it to version one, on all my projects and then reopen and save. Worked fine 2023.6.0 build as opposed to beta - suffered no memory leak, until today - and now, it shuts down my whole system to even open it.

Once I cleared all my cache, preferences, etc I was able to export the clip but was quickly freezing computer and lagging all resources as soon as export was done. Now it wont even play.

Any insights, @JohnColombo ? The memory issue isn't solved yet and other have the same problem. One of your engineers reached out to me and I sent him log files but no feedback yet.

@Blissful_Ripple15A8, sorry to hear you are also seeing something similar. The "spread" of the behavior from the Beta build to the release build might be significant—did that occur after an update of your release version? Also, is this happening in After Effects, Premiere Pro, or both? The logs you provided unfortunately don't offer much info, as they are for a specific component instead of the whole app, but could you try following the steps I posted above for enabling logging in After Effects and share those logs?
@hurti, thank you for your patience. Let me check with the team and see if there has been any progress or findings from the logs you've shared.

Hello @JohnColombo , I'm experiencing the same problem, I have an i9 Dell Precision 7670, 64 GB RAM, and the memory leak is happening in After effects 23.6, I have no plugins Installed, I purged cache manually restarted after effects, and project renderer to Software Only, restarted my computer, nothing seems to work, this version is a complete disaster ><", I can't work on any project more than 15 minutes, help us please it's frustrating that it took too much time to be solved...
