After Effects massive CPU & RAM usage while not in use/idle

I started having this problem a few weeks ago. When AE is open my laptop fans are running on full sometimes, often when I am not even using After Effects. If I check the resource monitor I see after effects churning through my CPU and RAM when there is simply nothing going on inside the program. Sometimes this number goes all the way up to 75% and 58GB RAM usage. Any idea whats going on?image.png

My specs are:

Intel i7 6700k

64GB DDR4 RAM

NVIDIA GTX 1080

904

This can be a plugin or script. Extent the AE entry and you'll see the troublemaker. If it's CEP engine, it's most likely a script.

Another possibility is, that AE - against your assumption of not doing anything - is pre-rendering your composition, or loading frames from cach.

The RAM consumption is normal for AE. Just close it, if you don't need it. After an hour into work, my 64GB are full, too.
