As first discovered in After Effects 26.3, third-party plugins based on the AE SDK can no longer expect to receive a valid AEGP_LayerH via AEGP_PFInterfaceSuite1->AEGP_GetEffectLayer() if the call is made while the plug-in is handling the PF_Cmd_PARAMS_SETUP command. It is unclear how this affects all third-party plugins running in AE. The side effects for FxFactory plug-ins thankfully appear to be marginal. Our plugins are invoking that function during PF_Cmd_PARAMS_SETUP in order to compute the in/out points of the effect clip by using the AEGP_LayerH in subsequent calls to AEGP_LayerSuite7->AEGP_GetLayerInPoint() and AEGP_LayerSuite7->AEGP_GetLayerDuration().
Please, After Effects development team, bring back the ability to start tracking multiple masks at once.Doing them one by one was a bit tedious. For example:https://www.instagram.com/p/Dafoc_4ucQ2/
Hi everyone,I'm trying to identify the name of this visual effect/style. It has a retro pixelated, old video game / low-resolution look.Does this effect have a specific name? Also, how would you recreate it? Is it mainly done in software like After Effects, or does it require specific plugins, shaders, or AI tools?I'm referring to the pixelated retro effect used throughout this video. Thanks in advance!
I’m specifically trying to recreate this here where futuristic code seems to be eating away at the screen, this background loading animation is used in a few other places as well.https://streamable.com/850t1sWhat I can’t figure out is how they managed to,make the little ‘x’s change into another symbol, then to an ‘M’ symbol. have the symbols move around and eat away at the screen. Is there a way to achieve this via expressions?Bungie game studio released their game Marathon this March, with it some amazing animation styles worked on by brilliant people. I’ve been going through their in-game animations and there are a lot of things I can’t figure out how they managed to do, mostly the 2D stuff.
When copying a set of layers containing a Lens Blur effect that points to a Blur Map layer, this relation breaks when the set is pasted in a new Comp. I would prefer to keep the relation intact.
Hi everyone,I'm running the latest version of After Effects and my Composition panel is showing a strange layout — my actual video/composition only appears as a small rectangle in the upper-left area of the panel, while the rest of the panel (from top-right to bottom-left) is solid black/dark gray and shows nothing.Details:Composition panel zoom is set to 25%, Quality is Quarter The small rectangle updates correctly and shows my footage/timeline content The surrounding dark area does not change when I scrub the timeline or switch layers I've attached a screenshot showing the issueAny help is appreciated
I dragged the Warp Stabilizer effect with its parameters set to the Effects & Presets window. Now I want to delete this preset.Right-clicking doesn't give me the delete option, and clicking the Del button doesn't delete the preset either.I'm reporting this as a bug.
I undocked the Lumetri window because I wanted to drag it to the right side of the screen (it appeared on the left). I positioned it where I wanted, but as you can see, the window doesn't have a "dock window" option, so now I still have a separate window.
I have a project with several comps that are each about seven seconds long. When I try to import a new PSD into the project as a composition, it is forcing the new comps to be two frames long. When I try to import individual footage layers into a composition, it looks like it is making each layer a two-frame image sequence. For over two decades, a PSD imported into After Effects for me has always been the length of the last created composition. Any suggestions on how to fix this?
Please add safezone options for current social media platforms to After Effects and Premiere!99% of the videos I create professinally are for social media campaigns, yet there are only guides in AE for broadcast safezones.
Hi there !I’ve been having issues with using transparent Cryptomattes in After effects. Whenever I want to select something that is behind a transparent object with the picker, AE selects the object in the foreground with no way for me to actually pick the one behind. Which makes using cryptomattes with glass objects unusable.Does anyone have any solution for making this work ?Thanks !
In a lot of situations, I find myself applying the same effects over and over. It would come in handy when these are stacked in an auto populated easy access menu with Keyboard shortcuts.
When creating multiple masks on a layer, it comes in very handy to be able to lock a mask, to prevent it from being changed accidentally.
CRITICAL BUG in AE 25.5.0 (on OSX) ; rendering of text - placement error - version inconsistency. MAJOR FLAW!Steps to recreate;1. IN AE 2023, AE2024, or AE 2025.2.2 ; Create a TEXT layer which is either CENTER or RIGHT justified. 2. ALIGN that layer to a guide or another object. 3. Open the same AEP file in AE 2025.5.04. Take note of the alignment.(system info at bottom of post)This is a major bug and makes AE 2025.5.0 unreliable for BASIC PRODUCTION TASKS and unsuitable for PROFESSIONAL WORK.See attached images ; NOTE image 4 which shows AE 2025.5.0 with the SAME EXACT FILE, TEXT, and LAYOUT, but in a different, inconsistent layout from all other versions of AE. There’s this very specific bug that has been happening to me since the later versions of After Effects 2025 and it’s still present on the latest 2026 release.I do a lot of transcriptions on Premiere, then convert those to captions, then convert those captions to graphics, and finally copy the graphics layers from Premiere to After Effects. This is a workflow that I’ve been doing for a while without any issues. These graphic layers are interpreted in After Effects as compositions with text layers inside. And this behavior is still true. But since later versions of After Effects 2025 (up to the current release of 2026), whenever there’s a line break (only on the first line of text) in this layer that comes from Premiere, the rest of the text just disappears. It’s still selectable and reappears if I remove the line break or convert the text layer from the original paragraph text to point text, but I just preferred if this wouldn’t happen in the first place.I’m on a 2021 M1 Macbook Pro. I’m
The pane buttons on the bottom left corner of the Timeline Panel are almost too small. The first two have keyboard shortcuts attached to them - factory settings.First:A shortcut for the In/Out/Duration/Stretch panes is sorely missing, and I cannot find an option to add it via the shortcut assignment window. Please assign a shortcut for toggling it on/of, or allow such manual assignment.Second:I realize that the ToolTips of the panes that DO have shortcuts - do not show the shortcuts in their ToolTips. I suspect many users may have an epiphany realizing this. Please unify this behavior! Thanks a lot, gratefully yours!
If I change the position of one point, the position of the opposite point changes at the same time. There is no button anywhere to disable this, so it is a program error that is inconsistent with what the user is doing

My computer has 32.0 GB RAM but I often see 92% of RAM is used when I worked with certain Ae. I wish to increase the RAM. Is 64 GB enough for Ae or I have to go for 128 GB.
Hi everyone,I am working on a stateful GPU Particle System plug-in using the AE 2022 SDK. Because the plug-in is stateful, every particle's state at frame n depends on its state at frame n-1.I am using a caching technique that stores previous states, which works perfectly during a standard serial preview. However, if the user jumps randomly to a later frame (or to the end of the timeline), the cache is invalidated, and I have to run a naive loop through all previous frames to calculate the current state.During this loop, I need to sample a layer that might be animated. This requires checking out the layer for every frame within the loop. My current approach is:Call checkout_layer inside PreRender().Inside SmartRender(), for every cycle of the frame-calculation loop:Call checkout_layer_pixels().Process the layer data.Call checkin_layer_pixels() to free the memory. The Issue:When testing with a large layer size, the plug-in crashes. After debugging, I found that the GPU runs out of memory
After Effects requires more basic audio filters, effects, and restoration features than Premiere Pro. Sometimes, to correct noise or other issues in a video's audio, we either need to import the video into Premiere Pro or export it as audio in Audition and then export the audio separately. In After Effects, the only solution available is the High-Low Pass filter, and it's not sufficient on its own. Searching for solutions in different programs for simple, in-program fixes complicates the process.Premiere Pro’s Audio Effects PanelAfter Effect’s Audio Effects panel
After Effects needs a language settings feature that will make it easier to type text in other languages. For example, if the entire title needs to be in uppercase and a word in the title contains the letter "i," it needs to appear as a capital "İ" in the language you're writing in. If you've already written the title and use the All Caps feature, and the "i" in the text is lowercase, it will appear in English format as a capital "I." There are temporary solutions, of course. For example, not using the All Caps feature and typing manually, or manually correcting any problematic characters after applying All Caps. However, programs like Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign offer a very simple solution: a language selection option in the text options. This way, if someone writes in Turkish, for example, it will appear according to Turkish spelling rules. (After Effects also supports significantly fewer languages compared to the other three programs, which is another necessity). The lac
With the announcement of RTX Spark hardware, it would be helpful to get confirmation on whether Adobe After Effects will support it.RTX Spark appears to be some of the most powerful consumer-focused hardware currently available, and support for After Effects could be a major time-saver for rendering, previews, and wider motion graphics/VFX pipelines.NVIDIA has stated:“NVIDIA is partnering with Adobe to rearchitect Adobe Premiere and Photoshop for RTX Spark.”NVIDIA has also said:“Adobe will further extend Premiere and Photoshop to allow users to create, edit and design with Windows agents, providing creators with a collaborative teammate to accelerate their workflows. Updates to Adobe’s creative apps like Premiere, Photoshop and Substance are expected to start rolling out alongside RTX Spark availability.”Given that After Effects is such a key part of many Adobe video and motion graphics workflows, it would be useful to know:Whether After Effects will be supported on RTX Spark hardware.
when I hit L L for the hotkey to reveal the audio wave form, I would like to also have Audio Levels visible too. I've never wanted to see the audio level stopwatch without seeing the wave form a the same time. right now 1 L will open the stop watch, and 2 will hide stop watch and reveal waveform.
Dear Adobe After Effects Team,First, I would like to thank you for the incredible progress made in the native 3D workflow inside After Effects. The addition of GLB, glTF, FBX, and OBJ support has opened many new possibilities for motion designers and artists who rely on After Effects as their primary creative environment.I would like to submit a feature request that I believe would have a significant impact on the future of After Effects: native support for Alembic (.ABC) files.Alembic has become an industry-standard format for exchanging complex animated geometry between 3D applications. It is widely used for: Ocean and water simulations Cloth simulations Hair and fur animation Destruction and VFX caches Geometry Nodes workflows Vertex and point-level animation High-end character deformation caches Currently, many artists can import static or skeletal animated models into After Effects, but simulations and vertex-based animations are often lost because they rely on geometr
