Blender seems lie a good option

Maybe I wanted some general tips on how to proceed. I am learning Blender now and its very user friendly, I see that my vision is very doable. I am also working with Monster Mash to make a 3D-objekt from a 2D-image. I want a very expensive Neuman microphone to be on fire and I cant afford to buy a real 10000usd mic. Monster Mash is really simple way of getting a 3D-object from a just photo. It will not be ultra-good, but good enough to fool the viewer. I will make a black  fake-mic from aluminum foil and set it on fire with some gasoline or ethanol, a small fan blowing the flames backwards, then place my expensive Neuman-3D-from-2D image inside the flames in Ae. I think if I just use "set to screen" for the black mic this should work fine? The black aluminum mic will then be transparent, leaving the flames. It will be some fun work filming this. I can make the black from just plain soot, this tolerate the flames as well. I could make the aluminum mic green and use Keylight in Ae but I see some problems, the flames will color the green mic and Keylight might do a poor job. The green color will also not be flame-retardant. The mic on fire will pass by in the video very quickly so it does not need to be perfect. Have a nice day Andrew!
