Im exporting a project in DNxHD 10bit, I exported a similar project last year with embedded alha.
However I find that with the latest version of AE I am unable to export with embedded alpha (that my client using Avid can use).
In the output module settings the UNCOMPRESSED setting has been replaced with COMPRESSED.
Previously I have had to have uncompressed selected in order for the alpha to work. Now the only choice available is No alpha or compressed.
My workaround is that I have installed AE 2021. I render prores4444 with alpha from AE 2022 then import into AE 2021 and export DNxHD 10bit with Uncompressed alpha.
This works but seems to be a long way round to fix something that worked fine a year ago.

I'm having the exact same problem. My system just updated to After Effects 22.6.0 and when I export DNxHD w/ alpha (which I do hundreds of times a month), the files now can't be read by Avid Media Composer. This process has been working for years and it's broken as of yesterday for me. I'm also having to export ProRes4444 as a workaround but that's adding extra time, size and process for me. Adobe, please fix.

Hey there, tiny bit if info on this: I had the same issue on my last show with editurs seeing black screens from AE outputs to DnXHD, and what we disovered is that AVID updated the plugin for AE and it is included in AE's package now. The problem is that this version will not work with their OWN Media Composer software! We asked AVID support for help, and their awswer was"update Media Composer". That is not going to happen. So as far as we could discern, this is an issue with both AVID & Adobe...
We ended up using a different output codec as a solution: the "LB" version of DnXHD (see attachment). It worked for our editorial workflow, but your mileage may vary depending on what flavor of Media Composer your editors use.

Thanks for the insight. I'll rasie the issue with Marriana at AVID... although I beleive she's based in SW Florida and probably just got pummeled by Hurrican Ian.

Try the After Effects version 23 beta as it addresses a known issue of DNxHD output not working properly in the current version of Avid Media Composer.

So has there been a fix for this yet or a better work around?
