Mocha AE won't import .mp4 or .mov

As the title says, Mocha AE won't import .mp4 or .mov. It says the file is corrupted or an unsupported format. Same message for all files tried. I know the files are not corrupted because I am using them. Mocha allegedly supports these file types, so what is going on and what is the solution?

MOV comes in many flavors. MP4 is hit and miss with mocha. Mocha is very strict with the file types it supports because it has to get into each pixel when it calculates tracking data. Mocha works flawlessly with a TIFF image sequence; if you want a foolproof workflow. For MOVs, I suggest you use the Animation CODEC, without keyframes - ie export the MOV from one of Adobe's DVA products.

That's good to know, although quite problematic as I have a feature-length film's worth of footage.

    Thanks.

Well ... I'm doubtful you will need or want to track the entire movie. It's actually preferred to be very selective with what you track, regardless of the workflow. Tracking does take a fair bit of time. I am also hopeful that you are aware that you only need the tracking/masking data from mocha. Any footage you send to mocha is not required as a visual element in your final edit/composite. Hence, you don't have to worry about mixing different types of footage in your timelines/nodes.
