Video artifacts and glitches during preview and render

Question

Specs: Mac Studio M1 max, 64GB, Ventura 13.0.1

I am running into a strange issue with a few files I got from Motion Array. The files are a variation of 3D renders exported as Mp4s and MOVs that I am using for some green screen backdrops and overlays.

The original files have no artifacts, or glitches but once I bring them into After effects they are unusable. I have also tried rendering them to prores 422 using media encoder, but the artifacts appear in the renders.

Unfourtnately none of the fixes suggested worked, the anything enabling mercury acceleration helped with reducing the artifacts. Any suggestions would be amazing.

Found a fix, had to run the footage through Handbreak. Media encoder wouldn't do the trick.

I have been dealing with this for literally YEARS and it has been so hard to fix. The hardware acceleration worked sometimes, but it was hit-and-miss for me. What it ended up being on my end was a framerate issue. On clips that did not match my frame rate the clips glitched out on occasion, even when interpreting the footage and standardizing the framerate.

That said, I think I have a fix! Take the problematic clip and make sure it is set to its native framerate. Then put it into your timeline and create a null layer right above. Then precomp the two layers and go to your composition settings in the precomp. Make sure that it matches your source footage. For me that caused the glitch to disappear in my main composition.
