I honestly don't get why it is so slow. I already checked and I meet the system requirements. It can climb the ram usage to at least 71% which shoun't be that bad. I need help with improving Adobe Animate's performance. I have no idea how.

what are your computer specs?
what's your fla's file size?
if you start a new fla, do you see any performance problem?

you just meet minium specs with that ram, https://helpx.adobe.com/animate/system-requirements.html
but you can try
1. update your graphics drivers
2. reset your preferences by:
assign an animate custom keyboard shortcut if nothing custom is already defined
uninstall animate including preferences per https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/help/uninstall-remove-app.html
then reinstall animate
open animate and confirm your customization was reset.
if it was, any problems with animate?

Sorry, almost missed the reply. No none of that didn't work.

did you confirm your custom setting was reset?

Yep. Did make sure everything was reset.

How is a fla size of 4kb too much for 8 GB of ram? Is there any settings I could try to improve performance?
Copy link to clipboard
Copied
something's not right. 4kb is the size of an empty fla. 5kb is the size of a fla with one frame and one movieclip on stage in that frame.

For some reason, it is very slow to even load a empty fla. Is there something wrong with my version?

open animate (does that take long?)
create a new as3 or canvas project and save it.
open that newly created project with nothing on stage. does that take long?

Basically Animate takes pretty much forever to load and open. Can barely add a thing or even create a project at all.

Because it's not just the document you're running, it's the program itself. Your OS also needs resources, Win 10 by itself needs 2 gb minimum to run. If you have other background services and processes running then it can be much more. Also anything on an HDD is gonna be slow; and there's been reports that Intel Optane can make some programs run even slower. Just upgrading to an SSD makes a world of difference.

From the looks of it though, it only uses about at least 20-30% of my memory, but it still loads forever, regardless of how many background processes are running.

What percentage is the drive (Disk) usage at launch or when it's lagging? Also check if read and write speeds are slow.

It peaks at nearly 40-50%.

Can't tell where I can see if read and write is slow.

Then what? I don't catch your drift.

then reinstall. the idea being your preferences need to be rebuilt.

Okay. I have tried that. Nothing improved the performance of Animate.

if you removed the preferences with that reinstall there's nothing else related to adobe you can do.

Well, I guess Animate is bugged I guess. I hope some sort of patch or update fixes the issue with performance.

given the vastly greater number of people that don't have problems, it's more like something about your computer setup.
