An Audition session is running very slowly

An Audition session, which is a duplicate of a template that we use for a daily podcast, has performed much worse than normal. It contains the same music files and track effects as it normally does, with about 1gb of additional dialogue tracks. When opened, the application runs incredibly slowly and jumpy. We're unsure as to how to diagnose or troubleshoot this. Any guidance or suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Noah

Thanks!  I appreciate the advice.  I will try that.

For what it's worth Rob, a number of producers at my company had issues with Audition version 25.0, that were fixed by returning to 24.6.

Could be worth a try? We are mostly on M1 MacBook Pros.

I have the same problem, although I am not using a template.  The spinning beachball now runs for up to a minute on every move I make, including just slightly moving a clip, trimming, etc.  It is making working almost impossible.

I am editing a large and somewhat complex Audition project, with 24 tracks, probably 100 files, running time 40 minutes.  I am working in Audition Beta  version 25..0.1.57, October 28,2024, on a Mac Studio M1 with 64gb of memory (54 allocated to Audition), on the newest OS, Sequoia 15.0.1.  I have my project, files and back-ups all on an external drive, a LaCie d2 Professional 8TB STHA8000800.  I back up every 10 minutes, and have exported the entire session and files to my internal drive.

SteveG advised activating  render in real time on all tracks, so the program does not try to render the entire project on every edit.  I have done that, and it makes no difference.  A surprise, since he is almost always right.  I have spoken to Apple, as the machine is still on warranty, and they suggest backing up the content and bringing it in.  I will do that as soon as I finish this project.  I will also consult with LaCie/Seagate.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Rob
