Able to listen in Waveform but not Multitrack

Hello,

 I have audio that won't playback in the multitrack session, but will in the waveform session. Yet, the recording was done in multitrack session. Input: mono Output: stereo. There are two people talking, but only one at a time is being heard in the waveform view only. Any ideas as to why the multitrack session won't play the recorded audio?

The picture in step four is correct, but the words in step five regarding the output are just plain wrong. If you have audio on a track, and you want to mix it down or export it, then it has to go via the master output unless you are doing an export of stems - which you aren't. If you route a track's output to anywhere else, that is where it will go to, but it won't be included in your mixdown or export.

 

The other major problem with the podcast instructions is that they tell you to use the Podcast template. This one thing has tripped up more novice users than any other, almost entirely because of all the often quite inappropriate effects they've put on the tracks.

Where is the track's output being sent to? If it isn't routed to Mix or Master then you won't hear it. (Whether it's called Mix or Master depends upon the session template you used; with the default template it's Mix, but that isn't the case for some of the others). You'll only get an output from Multitrack view if you can see the master channel level strips moving, and the channel itself is routed to a working output (usually Default).

Hi Steve,

 I changed the output to stereo. Maybe I was reading this wrong, but these directions on adobe support made it seem like I could basically send the output to stereo, mono, or 5.1. Anyway, does that mean I would need to re-record the audio? The channel is routed to a working output.

Thank you, Steve! It sounds like all that can be done is to play around with the audio (once directed to the right channel) to get good sound quality.  There's another thread I've started about the sound quality itself...which is where this conversation may go. Anyway, thank you!
