Ray Shenton
I have bad news and good news for you...
Because of the age of AA3.0, Adobe have taken the activation servers for this off line so you can no longer use your existing CD and serial number.
The good news though is that Adobe have provided a download of AA 3 on which you can use a generic serial number which they also provide. You can get details of this from this FAQ: Audition 3 and the activation service I suggest you scroll down to the last few posts which will give you the latest details.

One last point...you'll also find that the download site provides an upgrade to version 3.01. I suggest you also install this--it came out shortly after the original version and fixes a few bugs.
Good luck and happy mixing!

You may need to take careful note of the steps to take to remove all traces of this before you install the working version - these are in the second post on the thread.

Oldy and moldy thread, I know. I just installed Windows 11 and need to reinstall Audtiion 3.x. I don't have to go through the delete process since this Windows 11 is a clean install, no apps. I have all the old Audition installers and license/serial keys and as documented, none of them work. I can run Audition, but I get a message that my reinstall is a 30-day trial version. I've opened an issue with Adobe to work around this trial issue since I paid for Audtion 14 years ago and have been using it regularly when I had Windows 7, 8 and 10. Of course they tried to sell me the latest suite which I don't need. Waiting to hear from Support on how to reinstall and get back my permanent Audition. If anyone else has had this 30-day trial issue, please let me know what workd for you. Thank you. Thorne

I suggest you read this thread (or indeed any of the others that all say the same thing). There is a clue in it as to what you need to do, but you will have to chase this up for yourself. There is no point in contacting Adobe about it - they won't help you in the slightest - they certainly won't help you reinstall it. Apart from any other considerations, their legal team won't allow it.

Thnaks, Steve. I read there is a version that contains a serial number. Do you or anyone else know what that filename is? I have 3 or 4 install files so of course I'll try each one. Maybe I will luck out and have that version that contains the serial. Otherwise I really only need audio software with which to edit out blank space. I could probably use some other audio software just for that. I used to burn CDs with Audition, but that feature suddenly stopped working one day, no idea why.

There isn't a version that 'contains' a serial number - there's a version that will unlock with one specific serial number. There's no secret about what the serial number is - 1137-1004-8571-6848-7845-8029 - but the file itself had some sort of weird name, and that's the thing you'll have to find. And yes it's got to be the correct file; that number won't work with any other versions.

Thanks, Steve. I have the installer that "unlocks" with the serial number you just posted. Unfortunately I get an error on the data.cab file and installation fails. Sigh. It worked yesterday. Oh well.

I got Audtion 3.0 installed like this:
1. Install 2007 version that I paid for.
2. enter serial from email for paid version.
3. Installer recognizes this as an upgrade and asks me from which version I'm upgrading.
4. I upgraded originally from 1.5 and entered the 1.5 serial number I saved.
That gets Audition 3.0 installed and I can install 3.01 on top of it. However, this is still the 30-day trial version. SO I'm back to where I was. I can use it for 30 days and then have to find an alternative.

I was wrong. The 30-day trial expired even though I had 27 days left on version I was using but uninstalled per other instructions. Oh well. Time to move on from Audition.

WOW ! I followed the above instructions again, but first I copied my working Audition 3.01 from my Windows 10 drive... and not it works and I don't get the 30-day trial message !!

I don't see how to edit my posts... I meant to type: "...and NOW it works..."

Still on Audition 3.0 but concerning the Loopology Collection. My disk got --- trashed. I'm reloading stuff after a crash -- followed by a rebuild -- Is it still available -- or still somewhere? Some of it survived, it would be cool if that component was available.
Thanks.
