Assigning shortcuts to additional mouse buttons

My mouse has two little side buttons, mouse 4 and 5. In the keyboard shortcuts menu, I can't input these buttons as shortcuts. Has anyone figured out a workaround to get Audition to recognize extra mouse buttons? Would love to make use of them while editing.

You can use X-mouse Button Control to assign shortcuts to any of your mouse buttons.
You can find the tutorial online.
Here is my further recommendation for your mouse assignment:
-Assign MMB to Del. By doing that you'll be able to delete and ripple delet in an blink of an eye.
-Assign one of your mouse's side buttons to Add Edit Point and the other to Seletion tool.
These assignments will make your workflow much more easier.

If you look at your computer's mouse settings, are they recognised there?
