Question

Can I add annotations to a file to remind me of tasks?

I'm editing a sound file. As I work along I sometimes would like to add a "sticky note" or annotation to a location in the recording to remind me of a chore I need to do there. (Such as "re-record!") I'd like to be able to add color-coded notes -- even notes that are big and flashy. But this doesn't seem to be possible. The closest thing I can find is the MARKER function. I'm not sure what markers do but I see that I can use a marker to flag or tag a location in my sound file. Then I can change the name of the marker to something to get my attention or remind me of the chore. But this seems very limited. So I thought there might be some other full-featured tool I can use to add notes to my sound file projects. (I notice the recent question that seems somewhat close to mine, and the answer was to use markers, etc.)

Markers will do quite a lot - like letting you batch files using the marker labels as file names, and they are also used as a way to organise material that you can then quickly insert into a Multitrack file. And they let you create CD tracks. No they don't come in different colours, I'm afraid. There is, though, a free extension available for Audition (Windows>Extensions and look for Notes Panel) which should do at least some of the things you want.
