CD Layout not allowing me to add track by CD Markers, I can only add by file

I'm using Audition 2024 from Creative Cloud suite. I think that's the version (it's 2024 right now and I'm using the latest Audition).

I'm trying to burn a CD from a live performance, so it's one long audio file that I have added markers for start and end and set as CD Tracks.

When I create a New CD Layout I cannot add the tracks using the markers because you can never see the CD Layout panel (where you drag and drop the tacks) whenever the File is selected. I can drag the entire audio file into the CD Layout Panel, but that doesn't separate the tracks nor can I see the CD Track Markers.

I have also right-clicked on a track and "add to CD Layout" and that doesn't work either.

I have read and watched tutorials and they all say select the File from the Files menu with the CD Layout Panel open and drag files or markers into the CD Layout Panel. They've all been using older versions of Audition by the way.

I don't know if this is related, but I was able to make another CD dropping individual files into a CD Layout, but when I burned the CD the tracks appeared on the burned disc and were actual files but they didn't have any audio.

I feel like the whole CD piece of the current Audition is broken.

For reference I'm using a 2019 Intel Mac with a USB CD/DVD burner.

There's nothing wrong with it - it works fine.

You put a marker at each point in your long file where you want each track to start, and another one at the end. Go to the Markers panel, and highlight all of the markers. Now use the icon next to the waste bin to turn all of the markers into marker ranges. Now expand the Markers panel out to reveal the Type column, and change all of them to CD Track. Now highlight all of them again, and right-click on the selection. You now get an opportunity to insert them into a CD layout. When you do this, the editor will open the CD layout. At this point you can alter the positions of individual tracks if you want or need to. Then when you are done, just hit the Burn Audio to CD button.

I just tested all this in the current version, but it hasn't changed for a while.

Steve,

Thanks for the fast response. I downgraded to 23.x before I received your email and the panels work as expected in that version. I'll trying going back to the current version after I burn the CD. The only thing I was doing differently than your instructions was merging markers one at a time instead of the select all shortcut, merge you mentioned (thanks by the way).

The no audio problem was not Audition. Turns out it had to do with Apple Music on my computer. The CD played in a regular player.

In the previous version of Audition, it works as described. That's how I was able to make a CD. I selected the audio file with the CD Markers. Then I double-clicked ont he CD Layout. The markers panel with CD Markers remains visible, and the CD Layout Panel is active. I dragged the CD markers into the CD Layout panel.

In the most recent version of Audition, this does not work the same way. When you select the audio file, the CD Markers appear in the Markers panel. If I switch to the CD Layout and activate it's panel, the Markers panel show zero markers (even with show all files active).

I have tried different project profiles too and this is always the case and I have deleted Audition's preferences. I'm not sure what you are doing differently that it works for you. Are you on a Mac?

Thanks

Good heavens, no - wouldn't dream of using one of those! I did exactly as described above.
