Question

How do I stop Audition from copying / importing new multitrack files?

Not sure what setting has changed, but now Audition is copying / importing my HUGE video files each time I drag it into a multi-track session.  My hard drive quickly fills up, and the saves can take a long time as the files are copied.

I just need the files to stay where they are, such as on a media drive, and not copy into the project drive!

Thanks for the info!

Is this just the audio part of your video files that is being copied? Or are you importing the audio files separately from the video ones? Audition will always create new audio files when you newly open a video file since it has to work with the audio part only as a .wav file in isolation from the video file (that includes audio within it's video format wrapper). It has to save this audio part as a separate .wav file to work within the session that you are editing the audio in. Is this what you are seeing?

Thanks for the response.  It appears to be copying the video file to a folder called "imported files". It used to only be the audio that was imported, and now it's these massive video files, too.  Either I changed some preference somewhere or there was an update that now imports everything.

Anyhow, I need to find the setting to stop the video from being imported because some of these videos are huge sizes and are getting copied with each new timeline!

    Thanks for the info.
