How to Not Hear Myself with Track Open for Recording

Participant ,

Since I updated to the latest Audition, when I turn a track on for recording in multitrack, all of a sudden I can hear everything I am doing. With the old version, whenever I had the R highlighted for a track, I didn't hear my every move through my headphones, especially while recording. Is there a way to turn that off while I work so that I don't get distracted by my sounds? I have tried the I next to the R, but that didn't change it. The only way I can turn the sound off is by hitting M.

Ah, thank you Richard, it was the "enabling smart monitoring" box. I appreciate the help!
