How to smooth out edits in multi track

I am looking for any tips for smoothing out edit boundaries in multi track view. What I do now is put a fade on either side of the cut to mask the sound, but I'm wondering if there is a way to use cross fades without putting tracks out of synch, and without having to select all clips. Thank you.

If the Clips are just parts of a larger file then you can just drag the edge of one to overlap that of the adjacent one. This will cause a crossfade and won't actually move the clip out of sync, especially if, having selected all the clips, you apply 'Lock in Time' to all of them.

Thank you. When do I apply lock in time? And would i apply it to all tracks? Because locking in time would block you from moving the clip, would it not?

Oh wait. I understand. Yes, that works great, using the trim tool!
