I need help! I'm using Audition to mix audio files, that I have synch with pluraleyes.
When I import my xml file Audition keeps doing : "converting sample types", and therefore makes copies of my files. I just want to use the one I have already. I don't understand why it want to convert all the time (in 48000)
I have changed in settings/Audio material/ and selected 44100 it doesn't do anything
I don't get it and really want Audition to stop converting and duplicating my files...
what should I do?

Any session in Audition can only run at a single sample rate. So if you have files at a different sample rate that you want to use in it, they have to be converted - there's no way around that, I'm afraid.

but all files have the same rate, so it should not be doing it..
both files were at 44100

Yes, but what was the session rate? And what is the format of the files? If they aren't wav files, they will still need to be converted, because wav is Audition's native format, and the one it works in.

It's wave files, what do you mean by session rate?
i setup everything in 44100

When you start a new session, it asks you in the session setup what sample rate you want to use for the session. If you try to import files with a different rate, it will do a sample rate conversion on them and use the converted file in the session. I've never seen Audition resample a file when it didn't need to...

Are you sure your imported files are 44.1kHz?
It is rather more usual for audio from video files to be 48kHz. In which case, as @SteveG_AudioMasters_ writes, if your session is 44.1 Audition must convert the sample rate.

yes they are all 44100
i import an xml files created by pluraeyes, as it has synch all my files
i wish there would be a way to desactivate this converting thing..

If you want to use 44.1kHz audio files in a session and not have them resampled by Audtion to 48kHz, the only way in which you can do this is to set your Audition Session Sample Rate to 44.1kHz.
I understand what you are saying about PluralEyes, but are your audio files 44.1kHz before importing to that app? As I wrote before, 44.1kHz is not the "standard" sample rate for audio for video.

Both files are 44100 but one is 24bit and the other one is 16bits
I guess I'll have to set up my recorders so they are all recording at the same rate then to not have this issue , if really it works...
I don't see why 44100 is not good for video? I've always been like that and it's always worked fine

But when i import the files myself into audition and put them on different track, i don't have this conversion thing, so i don't get it..

44.1kHz is not not good, it is simply not standard for video!
I don't know whether the fact that one file is 24bit and the other 16 will create any problems, I rather think it won't.
But when i import the files myself into audition and put them on different track, i don't have this conversion thing, so i don't get it..
I assume from this that you are now creating a 44.1kHz session in Audition? Or do you mean you are now bypassing PluralEyes?

I have set up audition to create 44100 project, thinking it would resolve this, but it's not doing anything..
i use pluraleyes to think my files, it creates an xml file that i then import into audition.
and i just imported an new synch project, all files are 44100 and it's still doing the convertion!!!

Can you attach the .xml file produced by PluralEyes?
Can you also download and use the free MediaInfo utility to analyse one of your video files, and copy and paste here the data from its Text view?

Thank you for the xml file.
A very quick read of it shows this line (under the Audio section);
<samplerate>48000</samplerate>
Your audio sampling rate is 48kHz! (Which is what I would expect for audio in a video file, as I wrote earlier).
You've set up your Audition session as 44.1kHz. Inevitably, therefore, Audition must resample the audio to make it match your session rate.

but my files are 44100 so it doesn't make any sense..
so it's pluraleyes that is the problem?

I've never used 44.1kHz files with PluralEyes so have no idea whether it "converts" such files to 48kHz when it synchronises them but, since audio for video is usully 48kHz it is possible that PE is making that conversion.
With apologies, I realise I may have confused you with my earlier suggestion to use MediaInfo and referring to "video" files; the app will work with audio-only files and will enable you to verify that the synced files being output from PE are 48kHz.

I think you have a number of problems with this. Yes, you have probably confused Pluraleyes, but I can also see that you are trying to run NTSC at 25fps. Whilst this is not impossible, it's completely non-standard - NTSC generally runs at 30fps, or at the 29.97 drop-frame rate.
If you are going to do audio for video, then everything should run at 48k, otherwise you are absolutely asking for trouble.
What I'd suggest is that for editing purposes, you convert all of your audio to 48k copies, and use these in a 48k session. If you do this, then Audition won't make copies of them.

But I don't see the relevent of this regarding the video rate and video files..
For me it's 2 different things..i recorded a live session with sereval recorder, i mix the audio that i will then add to my video editing. but i never use any video files with Audition....it's like i don't even use any videos for this work. i synch my files and they mix them to get my live session audio.. otherwise is there a way to auto synch audio files with audition?

The video rate thing is just an additional point. Your session was set up as 48k according to the .xml file. Your audio is at 44.1k. Therefore, your 44.1k audio will be resampled to 48k to work in the session. As far as synchronisation is concerned, Audition has, in the Clip menu, Automatic Speech Alignment. It works very well - sometimes even on singing.
But you really do need to sort out your workflow, I think.

Ok well this is not working for me, I can't select more than 2 files to do the alignement and it says I don't have enough memory...which is strange I have 96 go of ram..
