Question

Is there way how to cut selection in half and fade in/out selected portion in multitrack editor?

Hi!

My workflow is filled with a lot of cuting out of the mass.

So what i do, is I find a mistake/breath or something, cut it in half, fade out previous part, fade in next part. If I can select portion with an error, make some „magic“ and it will be cuted exactly in half, and from left it wil be fade-out, and on the right side fade in on the lenght of the selection of each pieces, that would save me like a 1-2 hours a day.

Is there way, how to do this? Even with make it two part.

You can see what I want to achieve on video: https://youtu.be/P8KhUZXinE4

Is there a way? Thank you!

But that's what 'editing' is! You can't automate that, as the precise nature of what you are cutting is entirely programme-dependant. No automated system could achieve what you can, simply because it can't hear the result. The only thing I'd do differently with your example is overlap the joins slightly, so that there's no possibility of any discontinuity at that point, which there could be potentially if you just butt them together.

It becomes a little easier to make the split if you use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl-K, which will split the clip where the cursor is, on the highlighted track, but that's as far as you can really go with this - everything else depends upon listening to the result.

Sorry. I did maybe explain it badly.

I do not want to automate that for auto editing the whole timeline! Nono.

I just want to make this „action“ only on the selected portion of the track.

I will select portion. Do a shortcut - the selection get sliced exatly in the half of the selection, and on the both sides of the selection from cut it will me fadein/fadeout.

This CAN be automate, because i will select only specific portion and the operation can be done automatically. Ony on the short, selected path. Only on the one breath.

Is it clearer now?

Alternatively, just select slightly less than the section you want to remove, and use Ctrl+k. This will cut out the selection, and if you then slide the parts you want back together with a slight overlap, you have your fade created automatically.

Thank you! I did experiment after this question and this was the fastest solution, that one with rip-delete is even better.

Now if I just find out how to select two portions of track and it make fadeout-\|/-fadein around the cut, my problem is solved

Is it possible to do that with scripting/favorites or something?
