Question

Moving track effects to wav file

Hello,

I have a large project with many tracks. On each track, I have several track effects applied in the multi-track view. Some of these effects are too CPU heavy to playback the project. In order to fix this, I want to apply the track effects permanently to the wav files. In order to achieve this, I initially tried to export each track as a wav file with the effects applied so that I could replace the existing tracks with already processed wav files, however, when I export the tracks, the volume of the wav files are drastically lowered. I have read posts on how to fix this, and it wasn't much help. It was too complicated for me to fully understand and the solutions didn't seem to solve the problem. I switched from -3db to Left/Right Cut Logarithmic in the Multitrack settings and re-exported and when I reimport the wav files, the volume is still reduced. Ultimately, all I would like to do is copy the effects that are applied in the multitrack track effects panel over to the wav file, so I don't have to do that manually over dozens of tracks. That seems like the easiest solution, but of course, I'm guessing this functionality does not exist, because that would be too easy. If there is another way to address, that would be very helpful. Thank you.

Of course the functionality exists - it's existed just about for ever!

If you look at the bottom of the effects rack, or the top of any individual track, you'll find a lightning bolt. Wherever you see one of these, if you select it, it will pre-render all the effects you've applied to a track. If you pre-render all the tracks you've got, then however complex your mix is, it will mix down correctly. Not only that, but before the mixdown, it's perfectly possible to unclick it, alter anything you want and click again, and it will pre-render your changes.
