Multiple track slows down and playback and generates noise

I use Audition on Mac. I was editing a sound with more than 10 vocal tracks.  Each track has its own rack of sound effects.  When I play back, it gradually slowed down and generate electric noises.  I don't have this issue when the number of tracks is smaller than 5 or 6.  Can someone help?  Much appreciated.

The best solution to this is to pre-render individual tracks (the lightning bolt at the top of the track effects box). It's instantly undoable if you need to, but the more you pre-render, the smoother things get if you are using a lot of effects.
