Recording with Windows 10 and external mic

I recently installed Windows 10 and have been using Audition to cut down audios. I haven't recorded since I had Windows 7, I just hooked up my Blue Microphone to my USB. I tried installing ASIO drivers, Audition finally saw the USB but still won't record. Anybody know the process of getting this going?

That sounds a bit weird.  Exactly what model of Blue mic are you using?  Any you mentioned AA3.0--is that the version you're using?  Things work a bit differently on that much older release.


The Bluebird mic is the versatile cardioid condenser microphone, I am using Adobe Audition 3, but never had problems recording until my laptop upgraded to Windows 10. I even tried in Audacity, it saw the usb hook up but still wouldn't record. I think I need a different driver that will help Windows recognize the usb and mic.

The first thing I'd try is to go to the Windows Audio Controls (the easiest way is to right click on the little loudspeaker icon on the bottom right of the task bar) and select Record Devices.  This should bring up the Windows audio control and there you can check that your computer has recognised the Blue mic.  If you can see the Blue mic on the list, set it as default.

If you don't see your microphone, right click on a white space on the Recording Devices menu and make sure the options to show disabled and disconnected devices are ticked.

FYI, to the best of my knowledge, Blue don't do ASIO drivers for their mics--what you may have is a generic ASIO4ALL driver which is a very useful bit of software but it acts as a wrapper that makes WDM devices look like ASIO--but it can't bypass the Windows audio system completely.

The other thing to try is switching to the basic Windows WDM drivers on the Edit/Preferences/Audio Hardware screen.  It's possible that Windows might recognise that even if it's having problems with ASIO.

The recording devices shows the mic, I did as you said, restarted the program and still nothing but a flat line. In my audio hardware setup, I switched it back to Audition 3.0 Windows Sound, instead of the ASIO4ALL v.2, applied, and restarted the program, still no go. That's the only two drivers it shows, and I put the ASIO in myself thinking it would take because that's what I had to do when I had Windows 7.

I just noticed, in my hardware setup, my usb is not even recognized unless I select the ASIO
