Session templates doesn´t include track inputs?

Hi experts!

Trying to set up a multitrack session template for a studio podcast recording with four mics.

- ...who are connected to mac through a Yamaha DM3 mixer. Assigned mic 1 to input track 1, mic 2 to track 2 etc.

- Exported "Session as Template"

---

- Next day: Creates a new multitrack session with this template (Made sure mixer already was connected and chosen as hardware input in Audition.)

- Every track has the correct names and effects - but all track inputs say "None", even if the tracks can "see" the right inputs (attached screenshot) So I have to reassign each track input manually again.

Which is a problem, especially since this template is made to make recording as quick and easy as possible for several other persons without the skills or time to deal with configuration.

Any advices?

Ok, finally found the sollution to this problem:

- The crucial parameter is Audition´s general audio hardware setting [Settings >Audio Hardware >Default Input]

- Before making a new multitrack session from at template, we need to check that this Default Input is set to excactly the same choice as it was when the template was made.

In the back mirror that might seem obvious (not least because Audition give us a sort of general warning when changing this setting) - but:

My mistake was the belief (for me logical) that this setting:

...and this setting:

...were the same thing. Turns out they are not.

- So the trick is: Before creating a new session based on a template, make sure that Audition´s general [Default input] is set to excactly the same choice as when this template was made.

Also discovered another thing: If I plug the USB-cable from the DM3-mixer into a different USB-input on the mac, I get the same problem with the template´s track inputs - even if all other settings are correct...

I think that's what all those numbers at the end of the audio input ID are about. As for the default setting - well I did wonder on your .sesx file about what input port 1 was set to, and whether that would make a difference, but clean forgot to mention it! Anyway, thanks for reporting back.

This is really SuiteSpot's area of expertise, but anyway, I had a look at a typical .sesx file, and at the end of it is a section about the audio device:

And it certainly shows all the information that I'd expect to see for a sound device directly connected, in this case, to this laptop. On the face of it, it should show your mixer as the Device, and typically select the correct input source for it. Can you post the session file that your template creates so we can have a look at it?

Thanks, Steve! That would be great! Just give me a minute - now got a problem with posting files here. Not my day...
